The job market is a challenging landscape that every student is dreading to face after their graduation. Careers in marketing are more popular than ever, so it’s important for graduates to stand out by gaining practical work experience during their time at university. To help the next generation of marketeers, Technical Marketing & PR has partnered with Cardiff University and welcomed Alex Lambden, a Politics and Spanish undergrad, to expand his skills and gain an insight into what a marketing career looks like in the ‘real world’!
Our newcomer will take on the role of Marketing and PR Co-ordinator, bringing fresh ideas to the company and gain valuable work experience for his CV. Director of Technical Marketing & PR, Louise Matthews, recalls how important her year in industry was during her Psychology degree: “I volunteered in the communications department of a charity for a year which really helped to develop my skillset, with the year in industry becoming the foundation to starting a successful career. Using this as motivation, we want to provide a practical and worthwhile experience for Alex that will be invaluable to him once he starts to pursue a career post-graduation.”
Alex’s main project will be helping to further the ‘Your Virtual Marketing Manager’ brand- Technical Marketing & PR’s new sister company which will be helping new start-ups to devise a successful marketing strategy, as well as supporting bigger firms that may be looking to plug gaps in team resources. This project will allow him to develop the ‘Your Virtual Marketing Manager’ website, as well as writing press releases and managing the social media for it too. This is an exciting chance for Alex to develop a strong portfolio of work to showcase after his placement to potential employers.
The team at Technical Marketing & PR is excited to have Alex on board and are looking forward to giving him lots of exposure to marketing projects from the front line.
